Remembering Kathleen M. Burge, Co-Founder of Appleton Partners

Kathleen M. Burge
1950 – 2025

It is with great sadness and fond memories that Appleton announces that Kathleen (“Kathy”) Burge, a co-founder and former executive of the firm, passed away at age 75. Kathy was instrumental in the creation of Appleton, and her leadership over many years was integral to the firm’s long-term success.

Appleton Partners was established in 1986 with the goal of addressing the growth, income, and capital preservation needs of high-net-worth individuals, families, and institutions through personalized separate account management and attentive relationship management.

Kathy was a trusted Wealth Manager, a member of Appleton’s Equity Investment Committee, and held executive management responsibility for Finance and Administration prior to her retirement. She prided herself in keeping colleagues focused and on task, doing so in a uniquely frank and humorous manner. Kathy was also an avid traveler, but only so long as a coastline was available to be enjoyed, preferably in Maine or New Hampshire. Colleagues remember her fondly as someone who navigated life on her own terms.

“Kathy was a trusted partner of Bill Kingman, Ken Ives, and me in defining our mission, building the company in the early days, and in later managing Appleton’s growth. Through it all, she challenged everyone to serve clients and the company with discipline and pride,” emphasized Douglas Chamberlain, President and CEO.
